Melbourne City Circle Tourist Tram
A great way to see the top sights in Melbourne is by taking the City Circle Tourist Tram. This free attraction takes passengers on a tour around the city, offering audio commentary on sights.
The tram stops at various points along the route. Each stop displays a timetable and the next departure. You can also download the PTV app to receive real-time departure information.
Melbourne City Circle trams run every twelve minutes, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to get to your next stop. Depending on which direction you want to go, the tram travels along La Trobe Street, Flinders Street, Docklands Drive, and Harbour Esplanade.
Along the way, you'll pass many of the city's major attractions. For example, the Sea Life Aquarium is just a short tram ride from the centre of town. It's home to sharks and penguins, as well as more than 10,000 fish.
The Melbourne Museum is another fun family activity. Here, you can learn about Australian history and culture, as well as check out displays of dinosaurs, animals, and even life-size sculptures. You can also enjoy special events throughout the year, like an aquarium exhibit and a Christmas-themed one.
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image or ACMI showcases the evolution of entertainment in Australia. Located in Fed Square, the building is open 365 days a year. It features numerous exhibitions and workshops.
